Abstract

Objective:The study aimed to describe the characteristics of laboratory indices in patients with autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA) treated at Bach Mai Hospital in 2023.


Methods:A descriptive study was conducted to collect laboratory indices from the patient group, including Coombs tests (direct and indirect), reticulocyte count, platelet count, indirect bilirubin levels, and other related parameters.


Results:Most patients presented with moderate to severe anemia, accompanied by an increased reticulocyte count and decreased platelet count. The direct Coombs test was positive in 100% of cases, whereas the indirect Coombs test was positive in only a few cases. Elevated levels of indirect bilirubin reflected red blood cell destruction and clinical jaundice.


Conclusion:The findings provide essential insights to support the diagnosis and development of effective treatment regimens for patients with autoimmune hemolytic anemia
